Malaysia Qualifier

Located in Miri, Sarawak, the gateway to northern Borneo, the Velosolutions Pump Track sits in a vibrant coastal city known for its raw tropical climate and dramatic natural surroundings.

This event marks the first Velosolutions UCI Pump Track World Championships Qualifier in Southeast Asia and the first in Malaysia, offering riders a rare opportunity to race on a global stage in a bold new destination.

Expect true equatorial conditions – blazing heat when the sun is out and powerful tropical rain when the skies open – adding an extra layer of challenge and character to the race experience. Beyond the race, riders can enjoy beaches just minutes from the city, while world-famous rainforests and national parks await those willing to venture further into Sarawak’s wild landscapes.

Travel & Logistics Getting to Miri

There are no direct international flights to Miri. Travellers should transit through one of the following hubs:

• Via Kuala Lumpur (KUL): ~2h 15m flight to Miri (MYY).

AirAsia: Operates from KLIA Terminal 2.

Malaysia Airlines (MAS): Operates from KLIA Terminal 1.

• Via Kota Kinabalu (BKI): ~50m flight to Miri (MYY).

Both AirAsia and Malaysia Airlines operate frequent daily flights.

• Travel Tip: Ensure a layover of at least 3 hours to clear immigration and transfer luggage, especially when self-transferring between KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

• MDAC: All international visitors must complete the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) online within 3 days prior to arrival.

• Acclimatisation: Miri in September is tropical (avg. 29°C / 84°F) with high humidity and frequent rain. Athletes are encouraged to arrive early to acclimate.
